This is a great book! Very heartbreaking story but i would definately reccomend it... If your an emotional person then i don't think you would make it through the first chapter... It is about A little 5th grade boy being abused by his mom... She gets drunk and then beats him for the simplest things like taking his hand out of the scalding hot water when he's doing the dishes... Very sad but it's reality... This is a true story from 1973 but this still goes on in 2010. So very happy that i have the wonderful parents i have and not abusive parents! Be thankful this week for all your blessed with!

This is a tough book to read! The stories Morgan Yisak tells me about life in Africa and where his scars are from break my heart..you are right that even though this was written a long time ago, it is still happening.
